Velocity Nationals General Schedule

Velocity has released this general schedule for the week. There is a LOT going on so please review it carefully and make sure you are aware of all events.

The competition schedule should be available very soon. The schedule is subject to change so check the Velocity website here frequently for updates and the final competition program.

Dancer waivers are NOW DUE for all participants. If you haven't already signed, please come in and sign during nationals rehearsals. We need all waivers completed prior to leaving for the event.

BE BOLD BASH
Date: July 2ND

Location: Junior and Teen Ballroom

We encourage families, siblings, whoever is along for the Season Finale week to
come join us in our main ballroom area for inflatable obstacle course races, dancing,
games, contests, photo booths, and more! The theme for this year’s party is Be Bold!
Come in your boldest, brightest, most colorful outfit/costume! Prizes will be given away throughout the evening for the following contests:

1) Best Dressed/Best Costume Award! Staying in the Be Bold theme, create a fun,
imaginative outfit/costume that best fits who you are! We will be giving away a

1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for this category.

2) Studio Spirit! The studio who does the most cohesive theme (using Be Bold) to

show their team spirit! Be Creative!!!

3) Dance Battle! Can’t wait to show off those freestyle moves? Don’t miss out on
your chance to be announced the Dance Battle Champion!!! We will
announce one female winner and one male winner.

AUDITION OPPORTUNTIES:
AMDA AUDITION
Date: July 3rd
Time: 4:30PM-6:00PM
Location: Senior Ballroom (The Studio)

AMDA Dance Theatre degree provides intensive, versatile training for THEATRICAL,
COMMERCIAL and CONCERT dance performance. AMDA graduates have enduring and exciting careers throughout the dance industry. With campuses located in New York and Los Angeles, many AMDA dancers take advantage of studying at both locations while pursuing their degrees. We encourage you to explore the AMDA dance curriculum, faculty, alumni, and campuses by taking a closer look at AMDA.edu

This audition is open to all dancers who will be entering their junior or senior years of
high school. In order to audition, dancers must sign-up at the AMDA booth prior to
the audition. More information about this audition will be available at the AMDA booth throughout this day.

TAPS AUDITION – Theatre Arts Preparatory School Audition
Date: July 3rd
Time: 6:30PM-7:30PM
Location: Senior Ballroom (The Studio)

Theater Arts Preparatory School (TAPS) is a six-month trade school for dancers
wanting to become professionals. This audition/seminar is open to all high school
students. TAPS will be giving away multiple $3,000.00 scholarships to qualified dancers.

PACE UNIVERSITY AUDITION
Date: July 3rd
Time: 7:30pm-9:00pm
Location: Senior Ballroom (The Studio)

Please bring a headshot and resume (If you have one), and be prepared to perform multiple genres.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Commercial Dance in the Pace School of Performing Arts in the only one of its kind in New York City offering comprehensive
dance training that bridges the gap between classical dance technique and the
professional world of commercial dance. The Commercial Dance major blends the
highest quality of dance and theater training preparing students for diverse careers
on stage, television, film, and the entertainment industry. Commercial Dance
students train with leading professionals in ballet, jazz, modern, theater dance, tap,
contemporary, hip-hop, and aerial work as well as in acting, singing, and technical
theater.

Pace will be offering fall intensive scholarships, and Velocity will be awarding one student a $5,000.00 scholarship to Pace.

GTA AGENCY AUDITION
Date: July 4th
Time: 9:15PM-10:30PM
Location: Senior Ballroom (The Studio)

This audition is open to all Teen & Senior MVA dancers as well as any dancer who
received the GTA Talent Agency Award at a 2018-2019 regional Velocity. Please bring a headshot and resume, if available.

Go 2 Talent Agency (GTA) is a boutique agency representing the Go-To talent to put any project into action. Our focus is Dancers and Choreographers encompassing all genres of movement and in all fields of the entertainment industry, including TV & Film, Commercial, Print, Music Videos & Tours, Theatre, Industrials & Teaching Representatives from GTA will be in attendance to select dancers to sign to their agency.

PRINCESS CRUISE LINE AUDITION
Date: July 5th
Time: 3:00PM-4:30PM
Location: Senior Ballroom (The Studio)

This audition opportunity is available to all dancers ages 17+
Please be prepared to do all styles of dance.  Ladies, should bring both jazz shoes and character heels. Please bring headshot and resume. Come warmed-up and ready to dance.

Subject: A Radio City Rockette’s Tale: From Kick Line to Consciousness
Gina Pero speaks truth about her life changing experience getting knocked out
backstage as a Radio City Rockette. Unconsciously choosing fame, fortune, and
perfectionism, Gina reveals her shadows beneath the lipstick and lashes.

Experiencing a brain and spinal injury in 2009, Gina danced from the kick line into consciousness. Learn fun facts about the ROCKETTES, the brain, ways to discover your own shadows, identify what your presence, passion, and purpose is, and how to start living RIGHT NOW! This class is right before the Rockette Master Class!

GTA (Go 2 talent Agency) AGENCY SEMINAR
Date: July 4th
Do you have questions about how to audition for a dance agency, what do agents
look for when choosing representation, what agents do for dancers, etc.? Then you need to come to one of these seminars!

GTA is a well- known dance agency in Los Angeles. Owners, Lisa and Terry Lindholm,
will be attending our Season Finale and offering two seminars. Both seminars will be
more question and answer based. We are offering two seminars to ensure that all
participants can have an opportunity to attend if they would like.

Time: First seminar: during lunch from 12:15PM-1:00PM
Second seminar: 8:45PM-9:15PM

DANCE. HOPE. CURE. Information

We feel passionate about guiding today’s young artists to give back to their
community, and use their talents to benefit others. We are so fortunate to be able to
pursue our passions, and we want to encourage young creators to use their time to make a difference in lives and their communities.

Dance. Hope. Cure. is a childhood cancer awareness campaign sponsored through The Truth 365. The Truth 365 is the Emmy Award- Winning grass roots documentary film and social media campaign that gives a voice to all children fighting all forms of cancer. Their mission is to shine light on the state of childhood cancer research funding by uniting the childhood cancer community, members of Congress, top pediatric oncologists, and several of the country’s most influential celebrities. If your student is interested in becoming a Dance. Hope. Cure. Ambassador, the founder Mike Gillette will be present all week in Sunset 5-6 to give out information.

Attire for the Gala

We specify formal, however that can be to your own scale of formal. Some ladies wear long formal dresses, and others cocktail dresses. Essentially think nice wedding attire.

Competition Hair

Hair is to be very straight with bangs pulled back and pinned with rhinestone bobby pins in a small bump (not large like last year) in the middle of the head. Part hair at the top of ears and pull back in a half pony and secure with rhinestone pony holder. The rest of the hair in the back is to be straight down long.
